Building a Biking Town

Do you know about Sackville’s Community Bike Co-op?
For a deposit of $20, people of Sackville get to borrow a bike, lock, helmet for free.
All you have to do is go to Mount Allison Student Union (MASU) desk, fill out a waiver, flash your i.d. and you’re off!

Sackville is a great place for biking, but we have an opportunity to build into a renowned biking town.
Recently, Renaissance put in a proposal to Mount Allison’s Green Investment Fund to make Sackville New Brunswick’s most Bike-Friendly town. This means we want to boost Sackville’s cycling culture and re-vamp our bike co-op!

Starting in 2014  the Sackville Bike Co-op with great support from Mount Allison & help from Renaissance Sackville in 2014 will be offering regular bike mechanics courses, events and training volunteers to help with fixing up bikes in town and hosting regular bike community-building sessions. And hopefully, with the help of a full-time Canada Summer Jobs student, have regular summertime hours.

To launch this all, we’re hosting a “Bike Fest” event in Sackville.
A bike drive (bring us your old bikes, and we’ll be sure to put them to good use!)
Free basic Tune ups, A Bike Show, Bike maintenance info, Bike & helmet safety with the RCMP, raffles, kids events and much much more.

But, we need your help!

If you’re interested in participating, volunteering with the Bike Co-op, donating bikes, becoming a volunteer bike mechanic, having a kiosk at the event, or know who we should talk to in Sackville OR any great bikes that should be showcased in the bike show:
